SHRINKING YOUR BASEBALL HAT
So you want to look cool in your new ball cap, but it just looks like a new ball cap. It's a tough situation because you want to wear it, but you hate having people shout new hat comments at you. It's just not fair. Well, it's also not the end of the world. Possibly you should consider shrinking it. Hats always look better when they fit your head well. However, wearing a hat until it fits sometimes leaves the hat looking old. It's a vicious "hat circle". (that was funny). Now you're convinced. You must shrink the hat.
You're in luck if you have a wool hat. Get it wet and slap it on your head. Wait until it drys and presto. You have a properly fitting hat. Now here's some advice on how to get this process streamlined. Anytime you wet the hat for the first time you run the risk of the colors bleeding. Try to stick to warm water because hot water increases the opportunity for colors running. If the colors start to run, put it under cold water quicly. Next, if you don't want a damp head you can try to mold the hat over a bowl or some object that is a similar shape to your mellon. Remember, you've got to leave the hat on until it's nearly dry. You should let it air dry to get rid of the "damp" smell. Just avoid putting in the sun because that will make it fade. Finally, you may choose to cut out the inners and get rid of the board, but just a bit of caution to this method. Taking out the stability of the construction of the hat may ruin it and leave you sad. So proceed with caution. At the end of the day, remember it's only a hat! They're meant to be worn "new hat guy".
